At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (January 8 to 11, 2019), the automotive supplier from Herzogenaurach will present its "Space Drive" technology.
Drive concepts of the future
Autonomously driving vehicles such as the Schaeffler Mover require new types of drive concepts. One of these is the "Schaeffer Intelligent Corner Module" drive module. Here, all drive and chassis components are housed together to save space: wheel hub motor, wheel suspension including suspension, and the electromechanical steering system. The latter is designed as an electromechanical "steer-by-wire" system and is controlled via "Space Drive" technology.
Vehicle superstructures as required
The technology platform of the Schaeffler Mover is designed so flexibly that various vehicle superstructures ranging from robo-taxis to autonomous delivery vehicles can be flexibly implemented. The body - which can be converted for the respective application required - can be quickly separated from the platform, in which all the technology required for driving is bundled. Only some of the sensor technology required for autonomous driving is additionally integrated in the body.
