It is a legal requirement that every registered vehicle has third-party liability insurance. This is stipulated and regulated in road traffic law. Comparis tip: All insurance companies offer practically identical benefits. A comparison of premiums is therefore particularly worthwhile. In contrast to third-party liability insurance, taking out partial or fully comprehensive insurance is voluntary. Partial accidental damage insurance covers damage to your own vehicle. The following risks are covered and can be combined depending on the provider: Theft, natural hazards (natural events), fire, glass/glass breakage, collision with animals, acts of vandalism or damage caused by martens. If partially comprehensive insurance is combined with collision insurance, this is often referred to as fully comprehensive insurance. This only covers self-inflicted damage to your own vehicle. Comparis tip: Fully comprehensive insurance is generally worthwhile for newer cars up to a vehicle age of around four to five years.
Parking damage insurance essential for new cars
Parking damage insurance is a supplement to comprehensive insurance and covers damage caused to the parked vehicle by unknown third parties. Normal parking damage insurance covers collision damage to a stationary vehicle. However, the vehicle owner can also take out parking damage insurance, which offers additional cover for dents, damage caused by scratching the paintwork and, in some cases, damage caused by painting or spraying the vehicle. Comparis tip: Parking damage insurance including cover for dents, damage caused by scratching the paintwork and sometimes also damage caused by painting or spraying the vehicle can usually only be taken out for newer vehicles and for a limited period of time. Therefore, insure new cars right from the start.
Savings of up to 700 francs possible when changing insurance
According to comparis.ch, you can currently save an average of 700 francs by changing your insurance. It is therefore worthwhile for car owners to obtain and compare offers from several providers simply and free of charge. It is not possible to cancel your current insurance at any time, but it is always possible at the end of the contract. As a rule, notice of termination must be received by the insurance company at least three months before the contract expires. The decisive factor here is not the postmark, but the date of receipt of the letter of termination. Therefore: It is best to send a registered letter within the deadline. Comparis tip: Never miss the termination date again - let us remind you!
