Nevertheless, the signs for the year as a whole are good. The members of the importers' association auto-schweiz are currently assuming that the original forecast of 305,000 new registrations can be achieved or even slightly exceeded. Andreas Burgener, Director of auto-schweiz: "Following the appreciation of the Swiss franc almost two years ago and the exceptional market performance at record levels in 2015, demand has stabilized at a healthy level in the current year. We currently see no reason why this situation should change in the last two months of the year." Another constant is the increasing demand for vehicles with 4×4. With a market share of 46.7 percent in October, all-wheel drive is currently heading for a record figure of 43.8 percent for the year as a whole.
Sales of heavy trucks roll in plus
The year-to-date trends in the commercial vehicle market in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein continued in the third quarter. While light commercial vehicles are down slightly by 1.5 percent after nine months, demand for trucks and passenger transportation vehicles has increased. Caravans in particular remain in demand. There has also been an increase in heavy commercial vehicles over 3.5 tons gross weight. After nine months, the truck market is up 5.4%, with 3204 new vehicles, 164 more than in the previous year.
