Market: Tesla pursues bestseller Skoda

Czech automaker Škoda is leading the way with its Octavia: With 763 registrations, the model leads the vehicle statistics for new registrations in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in September. This is according to current figures from the importers' association Auto-Switzerland.
Opel rolls into 3rd place for the first time
It is noteworthy that in second place is the electric car manufacturer Tesla with its Model 3. Last month, no less than 628 such vehicles were registered.
Opel made it into the top three for the first time. There were 469 new registrations of the Crossland.
VW (Tiguan, 443), Mercedes-Benz (A-Class, 432), Skoda (Kodiaq, 405), VW (Golf, 387), Fiat (500, 362), Skoda (Karoq, 345) and Mercedes-Benz (C-Class, 336) follow in fourth to tenth place.
Second and third place for Volkswagen
As far as the model statistics of new passenger cars after three quarters are concerned, the Škoda Octavia is also at the top of this ranking: 6740 vehicles were registered between January and September this year. VW with its Tiguan (5214) has around 1500 fewer registrations. But the German automaker also claims third place for itself (Golf, 4192).
Rounding out the top ten are Mercedes-Benz (A-Class, 3504), Tesla (Model 3, 3499), Mercedes-Benz (C-Class, 3294), Škoda (Kodiaq, 3273), Škoda (Karoq, 3149), VW (T6, 3145) and Mercedes-Benz (GLC-Class, 3022).
Good sales also for trucks
The latest figures are also available for commercial vehicles. According to Auto-Schweiz, 6.7 percent more new commercial vehicles were registered in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in the first nine months than in the same period last year. By the end of September, 33,526 were counted.
While light goods and passenger transport vehicles increased sharply in some cases, heavy commercial vehicles were only slightly below the previous year's figures.
