Volkswagen is also doing well in Switzerland with light commercial vehicles such as the Crafter. The sales clearly show this.

At 9342 units, 9.1% fewer new vehicles were sold in the first quarter than in the extremely successful same period of the previous year. The decline in motorhomes was particularly noticeable in the first three months of the year.

Decrease of 7.4 percent to 1120 redemptions
Growth expectations for the current year actually look very positive. Less surprising is the decline in trucks (Details as PDF here). Heavy commercial vehicles over 3.5 tons gross weight are subject to special procurement cycles. In addition, the size of the Swiss market in this segment is manageable. The absolute decline of 7.4 percent to 1120 registrations amounts to just 89 trucks. In contrast, the market had grown by 185 units in the same quarter of the previous year.

1576 fewer vehicles in the overall market
Together with the 72,089 passenger cars, a total of 81,431 new motor vehicles were put on the road in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in the first quarter of 2018. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this represents a decrease of 1.9% or 1576 vehicles.
