According to a projection, more than 750,000 passenger cars will have changed owners by the end of the year. This means that 2016 will see a plus of 2.37 percent compared [...]

This means that 2016 will be the best year for used cars, with an increase of 2.37 percent compared to the previous year, since auto-i-dat has been evaluating the figures for changes of ownership. But: auto-i-dat notes that more and more vehicles are no longer offered for sale through traditional dealers, but more and more often by private individuals. There are probably several reasons for this phenomenon. One of them is certainly that it is now very easy and inexpensive to advertise vehicles on the various exchanges and online platforms. On the other hand, for many professional dealers, the trade in used cars seems to be less and less interesting, as margins are also coming under pressure for used cars. Therefore, according to auto-i-dat, no all-clear can be given in the used car trade despite high numbers of owner changes: The coming year is not likely to be easy either. Although the supply of good used cars is high, as evidenced by the increasing standing times for some time now, margins are unlikely to recover noticeably in 2017 either.
