Grand Basel
The Grand Basel wants to present itself in a noble ambience. On the first day, Thursday September 6, is open until 9 pm. The exhibition is barrier-free, visitor rules can be found on the website.

Nearly 100 exhibits will be on display in Basel, each one a speciality with its very own history. One example: for the first time ever, the "Linea Diamante" vehicle will be on public display, a car that cult designer Gio Ponti (1891 to 1979) designed but never made it to series production. Until now, only 1:10 scale models of the design existed; for the Grand Basel, a team of designers built a full-size version. Connoisseurs, collectors and experts can marvel at a Porsche 550 1500 RS Spyder from 1956, a Lamborghini Miura from 1968, or a Cisitalia 202 SC from 1947, among others.

Board of Trustees with well-known personalities
Behind the new Grand Basel auto show is the Basel-based MCH Group, which also organizes Art Basel. Just like the art show, Grand Basel will host follow-up shows in Miami (February 22-24, 2019) and Hong Kong (date not yet set). The Grand Basel concept comes from Mark Backé, who those familiar with the Swiss automotive scene know from BMW, where he worked from 1998 to the end of 2016. The designated Global Director of Grand Basel has brought big names to the Board of Trustees to strengthen his position. In addition to artist Sylvie Fleury, Professor Paolo Tumminelli from the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne and entrepreneur Lapo Elkann are contributing their expertise.
