Audi Q4 e-tron: now also bidirectional on the road

Audi's electric bestseller in Switzerland, the Q4 e-tron, has a breath of fresh air inside, as well as a greater range, higher charging capacity and, for the first time, bidirectional charging.

Since its market launch in 2021, Audi has put no fewer than 11,327 of its electric SUV Q4, which is still available as an SUV or Sportback, on the road in Switzerland. The elegant crossover has now been given a facelift and has taken an impressive step onto the digital stage, particularly on the inside. The centerpiece is a panoramic display with an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touch display. This means that the driver always has all the important options and information at a glance. A 12-inch passenger display with a customizable design is also available as an option.

With the new One Connected Infotainment, Audi is also significantly expanding convenience and entertainment functions. The connection to ChatGPT allows occupants to research and interact with the vehicle. The redesigned center console has two cooled inductive charging trays, each with 15 watts of charging power for smartphones. And while vertical air vents emphasize the width of the cockpit, the so-called soft wrap, which runs from door to door, conveys a high-quality sense of space.

The Audi becomes part of the energy system
Another practical feature is that the Q4 e-tron is the first Audi model to offer bidirectional charging. Its high-voltage battery thus also becomes an energy storage unit on wheels, as it can not only absorb energy from the grid, but also release it again. Thanks to the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, the Q4 can also be used to charge e-bikes from a socket in the trunk, for example, or to supply other consumers with power via an adapter on the charging socket. In combination with a corresponding wallbox, which is available from Amag subsidiary Helion together with the appropriate Helion ONE control unit, the Audi becomes a small power station and helps to stabilize the Swiss power grid. What is particularly exciting is that customers with a PV system can achieve tariff optimization and income from flexibility marketing.

New up to 185 kW charging power
In the Performance version of the Q4 and Q4 Sportback, the maximum charging power increases by 10 kW to 185 kW. This shortens charging stops on longer journeys: Depending on the Q4 version, there is a range of up to 185 kilometers in just ten minutes, and from 10 to 80 percent battery charge in around 27 minutes. In Switzerland, the Q4 e-tron is available as an SUV and Sportback, both with the 82-kWh battery pack. As a rear-wheel drive model, this is sufficient for a WLTP range of at least 491 km, while the all-wheel drive model has a range of at least 463 kilometers.

An electric drive with 210 kW/286 hp or 250 kW/340 hp, both limited at 180 km/h, provides the appropriate drive. Thanks to 545 Nm on the rear-wheel drive model and an additional 134 Nm on the front axle of the all-wheel drive model, the impressive crossover sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 and 5.4 seconds respectively. The Audi also offers plenty of everyday practicality thanks to a 400 kg increase in towing capacity to 1800 kg for the 4×4 models and a luggage compartment that can be expanded from 515 to 1487 liters. Prices for the Q4 start at 57,400 francs. It can be ordered as a stylish Sportback from 59,900 Swiss francs, with the market launch planned for the summer.
