The aim is to develop software for autonomous vehicles that Ford wants to put on the road by 2021. The software could be made available to other market participants in licensed form in the future. Argo AI was founded by former Google and Uber managers. Ford will hold the majority stake as a stakeholder. Nevertheless, Argo AI will operate largely independently.
