Autosalon director Sandro Mesquita looked forward to the show in vain, and of course there are also many disappointed car fans

People had been looking forward to finally being able to hold another motor show in Geneva. A new partner had already been found in the Emirate of Qatar, and with a reduced exhibition area and a modified concept, the organizers wanted to take account of the major upheaval in the automotive industry.

Uncertainty due to crisis situation
Now Corona has thrown a spanner in the works of these plans for the third time. The trade show admitted that there had been several recent cancellations from car manufacturers.

Show director Sandro Mesquita..: "Many exhibitors have said that the uncertainties caused by the Covid 19 pandemic made it impossible for them to make a firm commitment to attend the show in 2022."

The semiconductor crisis will probably continue to have an impact on the industry next year, with negative financial consequences for car manufacturers. In view of these uncertain times, many brands have not been able to make a firm commitment to a trade show that is already scheduled to take place in four months.

2023 Further development of the trade fair platform
Although the February 2022 event has been canceled, the organizers of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) now hope to be able to carry out the prepared steps for the further development of the exhibition platform then in 2023.
