The continuing high demand for all-wheel drive vehicles is record-breaking. In November, the 4×4 market share was 47.9 percent; this year it is 44.2 percent, after 40.4 percent in 2015 as a whole. Andreas Burgener, Director of auto-schweiz: "Switzerland is predestined for the use of all-wheel drive, and not just during the ski vacations. The average CO2emissions are also slightly higher than in neighboring countries due to the all-wheel drive. Politicians must take the special features of the local market into account if they want to continue to impose the same targets on us as in the EU in the future."
No compensation through alternative drives yet
The alternative drives can reduce the all-wheel drive effect on the average CO2-emissions have not yet been fully offset. Although their absolute number of units rose by 12.3 percent to 1234 vehicles in November, driven by petrol hybrid engines.
