The Ferrari Challenge has been held since 1992, first in Europe and now also in Asia and North America. Around 1000 different drivers have taken part in roughly the same number of races since then. For 2017, the Italians are laying the keel for their sixth model designed specifically for the one-make cup, the Ferrari 488 Challenge. It is the first cup car from Maranello with a turbo engine under the hood (3.9-liter V8) and, with 670 hp, also the most powerful model to date for this field. It is based on the standard 488 GTB, which has been mechanically and aerodynamically modified in all areas for racing.

Victories for two Swiss teams this season
The last races with the current model 458 Challenge Evo at Daytona International Speedway did not bring any more shifts in this year's championship. Team Octane126 from Wallisellen had already secured the Trofeo Pirelli championship with Björn Grossmann before the Finali Mondiali. The German bid farewell with a class win ahead of his Swiss teammate Fabio Leimer. Rick Lovat did the same in the Coppa Shell for less strongly rated drivers. The Canadian drives for Grancia-based Kessel Racing and finishes his championship in second place behind German Thomas Loefflad. Dutchman Fons Scheltema takes third overall in another Kessel Ferrari.
