In 1996, he shot the footage in the El Mirage desert in California, and in 2002 he went to the Paramount Pictures studios in Los Angeles. In 2014, together with Patrick Demarchelier, he also shot the pictures to mark the 50th anniversary of the calendar, which is being published for the 40th time this year after a few interruptions. To realize his idea of natural beauty and femininity, Peter Lindbergh photographed 14 actresses: Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlotte Rampling, Lea Seydoux, Uma Thurman, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Robin Wright and Zhang Ziyi. Peter Lindberg: "I wanted to stage the women in a completely different way. I achieved my goal by choosing actresses who have played an important role in my life." The film was shot in Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, London and on the beach at Le Touquet in France.
