Second place went to Riet Bulfoni (21) from Scuol, while third place went to Dimitri Nicole (20) from St-Martin, Fribourg. One of the three can now look forward to taking part in WorldSkills 2017 in Abu Dhabi. All of the finalists are among the best young talents in their field. They all completed their apprenticeships with very good grades and had to qualify for the final round in a challenging preliminary competition against 38 other competitors. But there was only room for three of them on the podium. So it came down to the expected neck-and-neck race.
Recognize errors and rectify them in 90 minutes
A total of 18 experts and AGVS officials supervised the professional championships for automotive mechatronics engineers. The candidates had to put their skills to the test at six stations, each lasting 90 minutes. Different makes and models of vehicles and vehicle parts had been specially prepared for this. The aim was to detect and rectify faults and to measure and assemble components. The tasks, comparable to those of WorldSkills, tested knowledge in the areas of brakes (ABS/ESP), engine mechanics, vehicle electrics, chassis, engine management and comfort electrics.
