Mercedes: E-Class Coupé and Cabrio at the start

IT'S GOING ON The facelift of the Mercedes E-Class was already presented in March, and now the Coupé and Cabrio are to follow. The design has been sharpened at the front. An electrically operated wind deflector system is available as an option for the E-Class Cabriolet.

At the same time, the two-door models will receive significant upgrades from the other body variants as part of the model update. These include electrified engines as gasoline and diesel with integrated starter generator, the next generation of driving assistance systems, and the MBUX infotainment system (which stands for Mercedes-Benz User Experience).

The E-Class Cabriolet with classic soft top offers long-distance comfort for up to four people. The standard acoustic soft top also contributes to its year-round suitability.

The highlight of the cabriolet's rear section is the two-piece taillights with LED technology.

Modern style and sporty luxury
There are new trim parts inside. Open-pore gray ash wood and aluminum with a light carbon finish are intended to spice up the appearance. As usual, the interiors of the Coupé and Cabriolet combine modern style with sporty luxury.

The sports seats offer strong side bolsters and integrated headrests. The seat contour follows the side bolsters, and the center section can be adjusted in a sporty transverse or modern longitudinal direction, depending on the equipment. Material combinations ranging from fabric to Artico imitation leather, embossed leather, nappa leather with diamond quilting, and sun-reflective leather (on the Cabriolet) are possible.

Warning for driver inactivity
Coupé and Cabriolet can react intelligently and quickly if the driver does not react. The steering wheel's hands-off recognition now works capacitively. This increases operating comfort in partially automated driving.

If the system detects that the driver does not have his hands on the steering wheel for a certain period of time, a warning cascade is started. This eventually activates the emergency stop assistant if the driver continues to be inactive.

The sport seats in integral look offer strong side bolsters and integrated head restraints.

Most powerful drive version produces 367 hp
With the new two-door models, the four-cylinder diesel in the most powerful variant with 265 hp is also equipped with an integrated ISG starter generator for the first time. This means it has a 48-volt auxiliary power supply.

Recuperation and the option of sailing with the engine switched off make the engine more efficient. The inline six-cylinder gasoline engine available for the first time in the E-Class also features 48-volt technology with ISG.

The most powerful gasoline engine in the Cabriolet and Coupé is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder with turbocharging. It produces 367 hp and is said to accelerate the Cabriolet to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.

The E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet will be available to dealers in the fall of the current year. Prices and equipment have not yet been determined.
