With the new 70 km/h version, the Vespa Elettrica is the perfect vehicle for the city.
When Piaggio launches an electric version of its cult scooter for the first time in 70 years, it's a big deal. Accordingly, we were also very excited about the Elettrica and put it through its paces.
It turned out that the Italian works well in the city with a decent range, but is less recommendable on country roads.

More power and higher continuous output
The manufacturer has worked hard and revised the e-scooter. Although it is still called the Elettrica and remains largely unchanged, it now has more power.
Specifically, the motor now produces 3.6 kW instead of 3.5 kW (4.9 hp), the Li-ion battery with an unchanged capacity of 86.4 Ah has been optimized and has a higher continuous output. This also required changes to the motor control software.

Charging time of around four hours
And finally, the final drive ratio has been lengthened. Piaggio now promises higher speeds with the same acceleration and a comparable battery charging time of around four hours. With the new 70 km/h version, you can easily keep up in the city and only have to keep an eye on the speedometer if you don't want to flash.
Range of 68 kilometers
On hills, however, 30 km/h can be the highest of feelings. This is where you can feel the longer gear ratio. From around ten percent charge remaining, the power is throttled back considerably and is still sufficient for around 40 km/h.
But a range of 68 kilometers is certainly impressive. And when zero percent charge was displayed, there were still around 500 meters left in the battery.

Italian flair for city and countryside
The Vespa Elettrica has grown up considerably with the 70 km/h version. It can now be used not only in the city, but also beyond the city limits, for example for errands or short rides.
The price of 7295 francs remains impressive. But you also get a real Vespa with the corresponding dolce vita flair.
