Motorsport: Ronnie Bratschi relies on 600 hp
In Slovakia, Ronnie Bratschi won the second European hill climb, which is part of the FIA Cup for E1 touring cars. This year's first start with his 600 hp Mitsubishi in Switzerland is planned by the man from Uri in Hemberg. Ronnie Bratschi had to travel more than 1,300 kilometers to take part in the second round of the FIA Hill Climb Cup in Jahodná, after he had decided to forgo the season opener in Poland because of the distance. The effort paid off. Behind five racing cars, the man from Uri finished sixth overall in his proven Egmo-Mitsubishi Evo VIII (approx. 600 hp at 1100 kilos). He thus secured full points in the FIA E1 Cup - no more and no less was the goal.
However, the defending champion's category win hung by a thread. In the second race, a screw in the pulley for the throttle cable came loose and Bratschi had to cover the 4.7-kilometer distance at half throttle. Thus, a Slovakian, who had won in Poland with his Skoda Fabia WRC, was faster. The Swiss added up the two running times to bring home just under three tenths.

First Swiss start at the Hemberg hillclimb race
With an average of 156.74 km/h by day winner Vaclav Janik (CZ) on a Norma sports car and 139.6 km/h by Ronnie Bratschi, the track is one of the faster ones on the calendar. The top speed was so high that the newly modeled front spoiler on the Mitsubishi broke in the first practice run. Last year Tiziano Riva from Ticino had won with his Reynard F3000, this year Ronnie Bratschi was the only driver not from an Eastern European country. He will have stronger competition this weekend at the third race in Verzegnis (I), where some Italians and Austrians will test him. Ronnie Bratschi's first race in Switzerland is the hill climb in Hemberg.
