The initiative wants to raise the age at which senior drivers are required to undergo periodic medical check-ups from the age of 70 to 75. In addition, greater consideration is to be given to raising awareness of the personal responsibility of older people in deciding when they should stop driving of their own accord. A corresponding bill is now being drafted and submitted to parliament.
